Celadon is Critical Theory disguised as perfume. It interrogates language, perception and suggestibility. It’s built around a hyper real lettuce accord surrounded by an impressionist landscape of cold abstract textures.
Our modern lexicon uses fruits in a complimentary way. For instance, “she’s a peach”; however, when it comes to vegetables, it’s a completely different story. Say, “she’s a potato”, and you’ll get a slap. But the iceberg realness in Celadon is fantastic - cool, crisp, and invigorating. And even though its execution is so exact, being that it’s within the context of a fragrance, your brain would probably never go to the vegetable aisle if it hadn’t been directed there. It could have just as easily been described as jade raindrops and nobody would think twice because it’s a fragrance.
Not only is this a brilliant and brave piece of perfumery that would not feel out of place amongst the best of Comme des Garcons, but it’s also playful, tongue-in-cheek and full of wit. We love it.
