Suite 1209 is the scent of that magical golden hour light just before dusk. Perfumer Camille Chemardin uses a twist of coconut to soften the inherent leathery quality of ylang-ylang to create a sumptuous opening accord that sparkles in shimmering tawny light.
A classical base of woods, leather and sweet veneer of vanilla, radiant with the gentle purr of musks leaves a resplendent finish in its osmosis with skin. Suite 1209 wouldn’t be out of place amongst the great classics of the early 20th century. Chemardin’s handling of ylang-ylang here is especially commendable. She’s smoothed out its
medicinal, banana-like facets to allow its more voluptuous character to really shine.
The hit of coconut is pitch perfect, lending a gently creamy texture, which, when combined with the vanilla in the base, really sings.
